The following two teaching positions (1 at Prendergast School and 1 at Mead School) are available for the 2010-2011 school year:
Grades 4 & 5 Full-time Reading Intervention Teachers (1 Year, Grant Funded)
The teacher will be responsible for:
• Teaching small reading intervention groups
• Collecting/analyzing intervention data for the students that s/he serves
• Communicating regularly with classroom teachers regarding the instructional needs and
progress of targeted students
• Actively participating in Collaborative Intervention Team meetings
• Serving on the district SRBI Committee
On-going embedded professional development will be provided to this teacher with regard to diagnosing reading difficulties and planning/monitoring targeted instruction.
Appropriate Connecticut certification is required. Financial compensation will be accordance with the contract/agreement existing between the Ansonia Board of Education and the Ansonia Federation of Teachers.

Part-Time Spanish Teacher: There is an opening for a .6 FTE Spanish teacher for Grades 7-8 at Ansonia Middle School. Must have Connecticut certification #023 (Spanish, Grades 7-12).
Technology Education Teacher: There is an opening for a full-time Technology Education Teacher for Ansonia High School (Gr. 9-12). Must have Connecticut certification #047 (Technology Education, PK-12).

Pre-K Assistant Teacher: Ansonia Public Schools Pre-K program is seeking applicants for an Assistant Teacher. Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Starting pay is $10/hr. for those with a high school diploma; higher rate depending upon credentials. Hours are 8:15 a.m.-3:45 p.m. M-F. Special Education Instructional Assistant: Part-time Instructional Assistant needed to work with elementary school aged child with Autism. Preferred qualities include experience with Discrete Trial Instruction, experience working with children who have disabilities, specifically Autism. This is a part-time position with a maximum work schedule of 19.75 hours per week. Hourly salary will be determined by Director of Special Services based on education and experience. Special Education Aides (PT): Part-time special education aides are needed for one-on-one work at Prendergast School, as well as for a student at Ansonia Middle School. Hourly rate is $8.32/hr. for a maximum of 19.75 hours per week. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Those applying for the Ansonia Middle School position must have the ability to perform personal care tasks. Previous experience with children is preferred for all aide positions. School Nurse Substitutes: Ansonia Public Schools is seeking applicants to work as School Nurse substitutes during the 2010-2011 school year. Applicants must be an R.N.; salary is $20.49 per hour, or $143.43 per day. Work day is 7 hours plus 30 minutes unpaid lunch.
