All applicants should send a cover letter with credentials (updated resume, copy of certification(s), copy of Praxis II score(s) and three letters of reference) to the attention of Carol Merlone, Superintendent of Schools, 42 Grove Street, Ansonia, CT 06401. Positions remain open until filled. The following positions begin in September 2009:

Technology Education Teacher: Ansonia Public Schools is seeking to hire a Technology Education teacher for Ansonia High School starting in September 2009. Must have Connecticut certification #047.

Science Teachers: Ansonia Public Schools is seeking to hire two General Science teachers. One would be assigned to the district's alternative education program, which will be located at Ansonia High School starting in September 2009, and the second would be assigned to Ansonia High School. Must have Connecticut certification #034.

Mathematics Teacher: Ansonia Public Schools is seeking to hire a high school math teacher Must have Connecticut certification #029.

Social Studies Teacher: Ansonia Public Schools is seeking to hire a high school social studies teacher Must have Connecticut certification #027.

English Teacher: Ansonia Public Schools is seeking to hire a high school English teacher Must have Connecticut certification #015.

Spanish Teacher: Ansonia Public Schools is seeking to hire a Spanish teacher to work at Ansonia Middle School (Gr. 7-8) for 4 periods and Ansonia High School (Gr. 9-12) for 1 period. Must have Connecticut certification #023.

Special Education Teachers: Ansonia Public Schools is seeking to fill Special Education teaching vacancies. Must have Conn. certification in Comprehensive Special Education.

School Psychologist: Ansonia Public Schools is seeking to hire a School Psychologist for Ansonia HIgh School (Gr. 9-12). Must have Connecticut certification #070.

Art Teacher: Ansonia Public Schools is seeking to hire an art teacher for Ansonia Middle School (Gr. 7-8). Must have Connecticut certification #042.

Grade 7 teaching positions: Ansonia Public Schools is seeking to hire two Grade 7 teachers, one for science and one for language arts. Must have Connecticut certification for subject area.

Secretary: Ansonia Public Schools is seeking to hire a secretary to work in the Central Office for the district. This is a full-year position and involves registration of new students, entering achievement data, monitoring budgets, and performing other secretarial duties for the Assistant Superintendent. Applicants must have strong skills in Microsoft Office, be a high school graduate (or equivalent) and have job-related course work plus five years of secretarial experience. Salary and benefits are dictated by contract. School Nurse Substitutes: Ansonia Public Schools is seeking applicants to work as School Nurse substitutes during the 2009-2010 school year. Applicants must be an R.N.; salary is $19.75 per hour as of 7/1/09. Work day is 7 hours plus 30 minutes unpaid lunch.
