Program Facts

The School Readiness and Child Day Care Program, a joint initiative of the State Departments of Education and Social Services, allocates substantial funds to urban areas to increase the number of young children who have access to high quality preschool and day care programs.

Now in its 14th year, Ansonia has been awarded $1,121,261 to fund 145 slots. The Ansonia School Readiness Council, overseers of the program in our city, is pleased to announce the exciting opportunity for 3-5 year olds, living in Ansonia, to participate in a part-day/part-year or full-day/full-year quality preschool and child care program.

This program enhances readiness for Kindergarten. Through this funding, parents and teachers are equipped with the resources, knowledge and skills that young children need to achieve success. Fees for participating in the program are charged on a sliding fee scale based on family income and size.

Julia Day Nursery, TEAM Early Education, Valley YMCA Child Care Center and Ansonia Public Schools are the four programs that invite 3 and 4 year olds to attend their School Readiness program.
