Attendance is an extremely important aspect to your child’s preschool experience. Your child’s teacher will keep track of the daily attendance for their classroom. The attendance is reported to the School Readiness Coordinator on a monthly basis and the data is provided to the Office of Early Childhood at that time.
If your child is going to be absent or tardy, the program must be notified by 8:30 A.M. If you will be picking up your child early; please call to let us know so that we can try to have your child ready for you.
We require children to be signed in to their full day classroom by 9:00 A.M for Blue, Green, and Orange Room Families. However, the students in the Green Classroom should arrive by 8:30 am in order to have breakfast before their outdoor play time. This allows for a smooth morning transition for the children.
Arriving on time provides the food services company with an accurate count for meals. If a child is not here by the required time and arrives late, a lunch must be provided, from home, by the parent/guardian.
If your child does not arrive by 9:00 AM for full-day program, 8:45 AM for part-day morning program or 12:00 PM for part-day afternoon program with an excused tardy (ex. doctor’s note), you will be charged $10.00.
If a child has been absent for three consecutive days, he/she needs a doctor’s note or letter explaining the reason for the absence. If the program has not received any notification of the absence, the site supervisor will call the parent/guardian to find out the reason for the absenteeism. If the site supervisor is unable to get in touch with the parent/guardian, the site supervisor will mail a certified letter stating that the child’s slot in the program is terminated due to the consecutive absences. If the child is absent for more than two calendar weeks, the child can be withdrawn from the program. An exception to this policy is if the child has been out due to a serious illness. Then the policy can be adapted on an individual basis. Children must be present 85% of the month to maintain their space in the program. If this criteria is not met, your child can be withdrawn from the program.
