Ansonia Public Schools is a small, urban school district located in the Lower Naugatuck Valley area of Connecticut . There are 2,700 students attending four schools in the district: Ansonia High School (Gr. 9-12), Ansonia Middle School (Gr. 6-8), John C. Mead School (Gr. 3-5) and John G. Prendergast School (PreK-Grade 2).

Ansonia has state-of-the-art buildings, thanks to a $50.5 million building project called “Ansonia 2001,” which brought a new high school and renovations and/or additions to three of its newest school buildings. The new Ansonia High School opened in September 1999 while the other three schools reopened in September 2000.

There are two reports that provide a great deal of information about each school district in the State of Connecticut; here are Ansonia's profiles:

Strategic School Profile for 2006-07:

Ansonia's District Report for 2005-06:

Ansonia operates two grant-funded programs: an alternative education program for middle and high school students and an early education School Readiness program for Ansonia children ages 3 and 4. Click here to review the specifications for the two new modular classrooms to be added for the School Readiness Program at Prendergast School.

The Ansonian is a periodic newsletter featuring information about the district. To read the latest issue, click here.

iCONN, administered by the Connecticut State Library, provides all students, faculty and residents with online access to essential library and information resources. Through iCONN, a core level of information resources including secured access to licensed databases is available to every citizen in Connecticut.
