Ansonia Middle School is a      Grade 6-8 school serving nearly 700 students.

AMS is a 21st Century  Community Learning Center, which provides after school programming for up to 90 students Monday-Friday. The Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley is our major partner in the operation of this program; we also collaborate with Valley Regional Adult Education. The program runs for three hours each day and includes homework help and small group tutoring, as well as recreational and enrichment activities.

AMS students are assigned to teams of teachers, who are experts in the areas of reading, writing, mathematics, science, and history. Every month students from each team are recognized for their academic achievements.

AMS is one of two schools in the district with a Dress Code policy; click above to view this year's flyer.

Lynn Bennett-Wallick (lbennett@ansonia.org) is principal, while Joseph Dobbins (jdobbins@ansonia.org) is assistant principal. They can be reached by telephone at (203) 736-5070.

Ansonia Public Schools participates in a state initiative to improve attendance, led by the State of Connecticut Office of Policy and Management and directed locally by a Building Leadership Attendance Team. A major focus of the Team continues to be improving the transition for students in Grade 8 and 9. One improvement involves changing the Attendance Policy/Procedures for eighth grade students for the second half of the school year, starting Jan. 22, 2008. A flyer lists details of the changes, while a letter to parents and guardians, available in English and Spanish, provides an overview.
